EU

The Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) is fully prepared to accept the euro as the official currency in the country, awaiting the decision of the European Commission and the European Central Bank on the date of Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone. One of the key obligations of the BSE, arising from the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria Act, concerns the dual designation of the information for the users using the Exchange’s services in BGN and EUR.

The BSE website already supports the dual prices marking of the listed on the BSE financial instruments respectively of the turnovers on all markets of the Exchange, which applies to the periodic statistical bulletins as well.
All the transactions and operations in dematerialised financial instruments will be suspended for three business days before the first day of trading in EUR so the Exchange may adapt the reference prices of the financial instruments and the trading system parameters.
The smooth transition to the new currency is technically secured to be fully transparent for all market participants.

The calculation is based on the fixed exchange rate of the Bulgarian National Bank of the Bulgarian lev to the Euro. 1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN
