Today, during an official ceremony at the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), the BNB and the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document was signed by the BNB Governor Mr. Dimitar Radev and the AmCham CEO Mr. Ivan Mihaylov.

The ceremony was also attended by the BNB Deputy Governors Mr. Petar Chobanov and Mr. Radoslav Milenkov, and representatives of the management of the American Chamber of Commerce.

“The BNB and AmCham have a long-standing partnership in organising initiatives aimed at strengthening the dialogue between the institutions and businesses, increasing the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy, and accelerating Bulgaria’s European integration process. Today’s Memorandum will further deepen this cooperation with a focus on Bulgaria’s successful accession to the euro area as from 1 January 2026 and will ensure better awareness of businesses and households about the profound and long-term positives of this accession,” BNB Governor Dimitar Radev pointed out.

As for him, the AmCham CEO Mr. Ivan Mihaylov said, "Signing this Memorandum is an important step to further strengthen the cooperation between the Bulgarian authorities and the business in support of Bulgaria's accession to the euro area. For the American Chamber of Commerce, this remains a strategic priority that will contribute to economic stability, growth and greater integration into the European financial and investment flows".

Following the ceremony, the management of both institutions considered future joint initiatives, such as new forums and discussions on key economic topics, similar to the recently held discussion on the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy in the context of joining the euro area.
