‘In the long term, the majority of Bulgarian society firmly states that the benefits of Bulgaria’s euro area membership are very clear and unconditional. This is what the attitudes of the Bulgarian society towards our euro area membership and the adoption of the euro in Bulgaria from 1 January 2026 undoubtedly show. This is a very important sign for us’, Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said at a press conference at the Ministry of Finance.
The results of two nationally representative surveys of public attitudes among citizens and businesses on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria conducted by the Alpha Research Agency between 8-16 April 2025 and 22-28 May 2025 were presented today. The surveys had been commissioned by the Ministry of Finance.
‘The other main topic emerging from the two sociological surveys is need of the public for additional information in connection with the process of euro adoption in Bulgaria’, Minister Petkova added further. ‘We are planning meetings with citizens, businesses, mayors, municipal and regional administrations throughout the country. The government is working extremely purposefully to provide the Bulgarian citizens with the necessary unbiased information so as to dispel all concerns related to the process of euro introduction and to tell the truth about the benefits of introducing the euro in order for the Bulgarian citizens and the Bulgarian businesses to be properly informed and not to succumb to manipulations and misinformation which we see flooding us from everywhere’, the Minister of Finance explained.
The results and the infographics of the sociological surveys are published on the website of the Ministry of Finance.
